How does b’BOSS work?

b’BOSS offers web based reporting modules that are application specific and unique to bus operations. b’BOSS offers modules that not only improve the operation services but also makes the life of a transport manager and supervisor much easier. The modules are designed to offer an innovative approach towards monitoring and analysis. Each reporting module offers a unique solution and complements the other making b’BOSS a complete public transport bus operation system.

b’BOSS management modules:

Management is a process of organizing and arranging data in such a way that its value could be fully utilized to improve the overall efficiency and productivity of a system. b’BOSS management modules allow the user to define each and every component of the module and articulate it into an organized and secure database. Following are the major management modules b’BOSS comprises of;

Bus Management: Bus is the essential resource of a company to generate revenue, therefore, it’s imperative to record and maintain the details accordingly. b’BOSS bus management module allows managing and allocating buses, as well as updating the health status and maintenance operation.

Driver Management: Another critical resource that directly affects the performance parameters. In fact route performance is a function of driver performance. Degraded driver performance will ultimately affect productivity and results in loss of revenue. b’BOSS driver management module allows assigning drivers to buses and routes, as well as maintaining their history and status.

Monitoring huge fleet of buses is no simple task for an operator.b’BOSS monitoring modules represent information categorized into groups with a synopsis of each group. The objective of these modules is to promptly update the operator in case of any alert with less input from the operator himself. Monitoring modules give an overview of current state of the whole fleet with a comprehensive outlook corresponding to each bus in the fleet running on dedicated routes.b’BOSS comprises the following major monitoring modules;

Route Monitoring:  Monitoring the whole fleet is made simple by allowing each operator to individually monitor its assigned group of buses or routes.b’BOSS route monitoring module allows the operator to monitor the current state and movement (route adherence) of buses along the route. Its user-friendly interface also helps the operator to validate the buses running smoothly on assigned routes as well as quickly change the status and switch buses from one route to another.

Alert Monitoring: Gives an overview to monitor the emergency alerts such as panic, unauthorized access, power disconnection, antenna disconnection, speeding etc. with blinking and sounding alerts along with associated links to follow a predefined SOP for each alert and control the flow to avoid disruption. The purpose is to help the control operators handle the emergency cases and incidents of traffic violation effectively, as well as identify and impose restrictions on the culprits.

b’BOSS analysis modules:

Analysis is what makes data useful information, it is usually in the form of report or charts and helps to improve the operational process.b’BOSS analysis modules are designed to be reliable and user-friendly so that a user doesn’t have to make an effort to recognize a pattern. Following are two of the major analysis modules of b’BOSS;

Trip/Route Analysis:  Trip analysis report allows monitoring the performance or efficiency of buses running on designated routes. Improved performance results in increased productivity. b’BOSS trip analysis report is the major performance indicator for the efficiency of the buses running on a route. It has a capacity to support operations, planning, management and customer services that can lead to a more effective allocation of limited resources.

Passenger Trip Analysis:  Number of passengers and their location provide critical information for the ridership pattern and can lead to adjustment of running routes to more efficient ones. That alone can save a lot of resources that otherwise may go in wane. Realistic and reliable ridership forecasts are essential to size system design features, develop service plans, estimate capital and operating costs, perform alternatives analysis and cost-benefit comparisons, and make sound investment decisions. b’BOSS passenger trip analysis report provides details of each passenger trip along with a spatial reference. The data is collected from the dedicated transit routes where passengers were assigned with identification tags to use at each entrance of the bus. Passenger trips are monitored corresponding to each scan by the passenger at the start of each of their trips.
